Diamond Hoo Ha was recorded at Hansa Tonstudio in Berlin, where David Bowie and others had also made records. Goffey said the place had not changed much since the Seventies. Gaz Coombes said Launay told them he had seen what they could do live and wanted to make a record where they all went for it. It returned to punchier songs after the mellower Road to Rouen.
It reached number 19 in the UK, their lowest chart placing. Singles were Diamond Hoo Ha Man, a limited vinyl release of 1,500 copies, Bad Blood, which reached number 73, and Rebel in You, a limited seven-inch released through Supergrass Records.
