Kinda Kinks
A rushed second album that still reached number three in Britain.
The Kinks, 1965
- Released
- 5 March 1965
- Label
- Pye (UK), Reprise (US)
- Producer
- Shel Talmy
Kinda Kinks was recorded and released within two weeks of the band returning from an Asian tour. It came out on Pye on 5 March 1965, in mono only, and in America on Reprise on 11 August 1965 with a rearranged track listing. Ray Davies said it had better songs than the first album but was not executed properly, and that Talmy went too far in keeping the rough edges.
The album reached number three in Britain and held the number one single "Tired of Waiting for You". Bruce Eder of AllMusic called it uneven but noted that what was first-rate was highly memorable.
