The first part of Less Than You Think is a ballad that refers to belief systems and atheism, and it fades out after about three minutes. The rest is electronic drones, meant to represent Tweedy's migraines. Each band member contributed a synthesizer noise to the drone.
Tweedy called it the track that everyone will hate. Pitchfork's Steven Arroyo, reviewing the 2025 deluxe edition, described the drone section as Tweedy's sonic description of a chronic migraine.
