Brenda's Got a Baby

Brenda's Got a Baby comes from 2Pacalypse Now. It went out as a promotional CD single a month before the album and was reissued in February 1992 as a double A-side with If My Homie Calls. Dave Hollister and Roniece Levias sing the background vocals. The song tells of a 12-year-old girl named Brenda who has a baby she cannot support. Shakur wrote it while filming Juice, after reading a newspaper story about a 12-year-old girl who became pregnant by her cousin.

The black-and-white video was directed by the Hughes brothers, filmed on 7 January 1992 and released on 20 January. The song reached number 23 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart and number three on the Hot Rap Songs chart. Footage from the video was reused in the 1995 video for Dear Mama.
