Released by Virgin on 16 February 2004 as the first single from Talkie Walkie, and produced by Air with Nigel Godrich, it was recorded in 2003 and is the album's second track. It is in C-sharp minor and opens with bowed vibraphone, drum machines and fingerpicked acoustic guitar, joined by synthesizers and flute. The lyrics are sung by Dunckel and Jessica Banks, the lead singer of the English synth-pop band Chungking, whom Air were big fans of and invited to sing it at their Paris studio.

Air had seen Mazzy Star play in Paris and were inspired to write what they called the slowest Air song ever, composing it with Hope Sandoval in mind. A version with Sandoval, 2:53 long, appeared on the 7-inch and CD singles, and Pitchfork's Brent DiCrescenzo wrote that she nailed it on a demo. The single also carried a 3:43 radio mix, a Simian Mobile Disco mix and the demo Fanny. The song appears in 243 of the 332 logged setlists that list songs, from 6 February 2004 on.
