"Galaxies" was released as a single on February 15, 2019, 5:08, with a radio edit of 4:02 on a promo CD-R. She told Complex by email that it happened on a rainy moody day in Berlin and she wrote it with a friend while lying on the carpet of her room, with space as a metaphor for one small life in the wider world; the friend is identified in one search summary as the busker Harry Charles Leatherby, which needs a second source and is not relied on here. When the Horn Blows says it took shape over multiple performances at the Berlin Planetarium, and Complex's James Keith called it high-concept sci-fi pop about a falling star landing on Earth and struggling with its non-existence.

The video, released on May 6, 2019, features Maisie Williams in a spoken-word opening, filmed at the Zeiss Planetarium in Berlin, with Lou as a fallen star dreaming of her past among the stars and waking to realize that life on Earth is also rich; the credits of the directors differ between sources. A Majestic Casual session of the song at the planetarium was covered on May 7, 2019. The Live at Funkhaus version, December 7, 2019, runs 7:43, almost two minutes longer than the studio take. We hold one upload and have not established whether it is the studio or the live version. No covers, samples or charts were found.
