Bill Anderson and Jon Randall wrote it, and Randall wrote down a line his manager had said to him, to put a bottle to your head and pull the trigger. Brad Paisley told Anderson he wanted to record it with either Krauss or Dolly Parton.
It is an acoustic ballad about a couple who drink themselves to death after a painful separation. Paisley sings the first verse and chorus, about the man, and Krauss sings the second, about the woman. Jerry Douglas plays Dobro, Dan Tyminski sings background vocals, Justin Williamson plays fiddle, and Krauss plays viola. It appeared on Paisley's Mud on the Tires and was released as a single on 29 March 2004. It reached number 3 on the country chart and number 41 on the Hot 100, won the 2005 CMA Song of the Year, and was certified double platinum. The video was directed by Rick Schroder, filmed in Nashville on 6 and 7 June 2004 and first shown on CMT on 30 June. Randall put his own version on his 2005 album Walking Among the Living.
