Rushent produced and engineered it at Genetic Sound in Berkshire, and John Peel and Rushent sang backing vocals and whistled on the Neil Diamond cover "Song Sung Blue". It yielded "I Could Be Happy" (number seven), "See Those Eyes" (number 11) and "Pinky Blue" (number 35), and went silver. Melody Maker called it overly commercial and Sounds said it lacked soul; AllMusic later praised the two hit singles but called "Song Sung Blue" a mistake.
