Shankar's version of the 1968 Rolling Stones hit opens his debut and runs 3:40. Nate Rabe of Scroll wrote that it plays close to the bone: the opening is a straight lift of Keith Richards's riffing, and then the sitar dances in between the power chords and dreamy backing vocals. Uncredited singers supply those vocals. Hassilev said covers such as this were there so the record would have songs a rock audience could relate to.
MTV called it a mash-up of go-go girls, gurgling guitar, Moog and nimble sitar lines. It has since appeared on Rhino's four-disc What It Is! box and on the soundtrack of the video game Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories, and Beck and James Murphy are among its admirers. Pitchfork's 2006 review of the box said it was more immediate than Metamorphosis. In 2015 the Guardian's Robin Denselow, reviewing the compilation Slip-Disc, called it a "furious sitar and synth treatment" and a reminder that Ravi Shankar's nephew was a Rolling Stones fan who used to jam with Jimi Hendrix.
