Le Cimetiere des arlequins

Their second album, recorded after the first English tour: eight songs including a Brel cover and an eight-minute title track.
Ange, 1973

Le Cimetiere des arlequins was recorded mostly at Studio des Dames in Paris, with "La Route aux cypres" at Michel Magne's studio in the Chateau d'Herouville, by the engineers Henri Loustau and Andrew Scott, after the band's first English tour; the producer is not stated. The sleeve art is by Jacques Wyrss. Brezovar said the engineers struggled with the band's stage-level volume, so the early records lack the live dynamics, and several French reviews blame a muddy recording. It was certified gold and is described by French Wikipedia as their best-selling album.

AllMusic gave it three stars. Soundohm calls it the record that made the band a leading name in French prog, with odd, grainy organ, Mellotron and dramatic narration, and compares them to Genesis with Peter Hammill. The tracks, with times from French Wikipedia: "Ces gens-la" (Jacques Brel), "Aujourd'hui c'est la fete chez l'apprenti sorcier", "Bivouac" in two parts, "L'Espionne lesbienne", "De temps en temps", "La Route aux cypres" and the title song.
