Watch Your Step

Baker wrote it, and it was released as a single from Rapture. It was a moderate soul hit. Albumism lists it at number 23 on the R&B chart and describes a cautionary tale told to an unfaithful lover. It closes the album, and Baker said the last thing people hear from you should stir the emotions, and that she liked to start by relaxing listeners and then build to a crescendo. She sang the line warning a lover that they would fall and hurt themselves one day.

Baker played keyboards on it herself, with David B. Washington on bass, Ricky Lawson on drums, Donald Griffin on guitar, Sir Gant on keyboards and Donald Albright on saxophone. It was in the set she played at the Beverly Theatre in Los Angeles on 2 January 1987.
