Singin' the Blues was released in 1957 by the Bihari brothers on their budget label Crown. It is a compilation of songs first issued on RPM singles between 1951 and 1956, and most of them had reached the Top 10 of Billboard's race and R&B singles charts. Every Day I Have the Blues, Woke Up This Morning and Sweet Little Angel are on it, and King kept performing and recording them for the rest of his career.

Billboard wrote in June 1957 that a goodly portion of his hits were put together in the set and that the price was part of the attraction. It has been reissued several times, including by P-Vine in Japan, Ace in the UK and Flair/Virgin in the US.
