Fulani Rock was one of the two lead singles from The Traveller, with Gilli Men. It opens the album, on which, the Observer wrote, Maal's identity as a Fulani in a country of Wolofs remains central. At the album launch at the Royal Festival Hall on 21 January 2016 the Guardian described the pounding Fulani Rock as part of the finale.
