Ralphs wrote it, and it was first released as a single in 1972 by Hackensack. Bad Company put it on the debut and issued it as their second single, after Can't Get Enough. It reached 19 on the Billboard Hot 100 and 30 in Canada. Free's Easy on My Soul, cut at the same sessions, was its B-side.
Billboard called it a "perfect 'driving' song", and Bud Scoppa of Rolling Stone said it contains "nothing that hasn't been done a thousand times before, but...sounds irresistibly fresh". Ralphs said songs like it went unused in Mott the Hoople because Ian Hunter could not sing them. Live versions have appeared on albums including Live at Wembley.
