Production credit is disputed between sources. It reached number 28 on the US Top LPs, the band's best album position, and did not chart in the UK. Creem's Mike Saunders wrote in 1971 that Badfinger is one of the best songwriting groups around, and AllMusic later gave it four and a half stars. The cover model is credited as Kathy; Molland said they never actually met her. Bonus tracks on the 1992 CD included "Get Down" and "Friends Are Hard to Find", from the same Evans-produced session as "No Matter What".
