One Way or Another
A surf riff from the bassist and a chorus of Harry's hooks, the US follow-up to Heart of Glass.

Harrison composed the music, which he described as a Ventures-like futuristic surf song gone wrong. Destri liked it, and Harry added the getcha-getcha parts. According to Chapman it was only a riff when rehearsals began, and Harry finished it just before the studio. It was recorded in June and July 1978, and Harrison said Chapman came up with the chaotic ending.
In the US and Canada it was the next single after Heart of Glass, reaching number 24 on the Hot 100 and number 7 in Canada. It was never a UK single, but charted there in 2013 when One Direction recorded it in a medley with Teenage Kicks for Comic Relief and reached number one. Rolling Stone placed it at number 298 on its list of the 500 greatest songs. The Guardian described the vocal as ferociously aggressive and seemingly made up entirely of hooks.
