Stein wrote it alone, asked Harry to put her name on it, and the credit stayed with him. It was inspired by Harry's cat, Sunday Man, who ran away. An early demo with a Latin-influenced arrangement impressed Chapman, who recalled that he did not think the lyrics were written until the band reached the studio. A French-language version was also recorded.
Released as the follow-up to Heart of Glass in the UK and Europe, but not in the US, it topped the UK chart for three weeks in May 1979. Covers include Family Fodder (1979), Lush singing the French version (1994) and She & Him (2013). The Guardian ranked it eleventh among the band's best.
