- Producer
- Tony Bongiovi and Lance Quinn
The debut was produced by Tony Bongiovi and Lance Quinn. It peaked at number 43 on the Billboard 200, and Runaway reached number 39 on the Hot 100. It is the only Bon Jovi album with a song, She Don't Know Me, that no band member wrote or co-wrote. Runaway was played by session musicians, among them Roy Bittan, Frankie LaRocka, Tim Pierce and Hugh McDonald. After Slippery When Wet, little of it was played live, though songs including Roulette, Shot Through the Heart and Get Ready were played on the 2010 Circle Tour.
Jon told an interviewer in 2007 that the band were not good at first and did not become a good band until the third record. Kerrang! ranked the album 11th best rock album of 1984.
