Melting Pot

Melting Pot rests on repetitive, groove-driven drumming, a loping bass line and tight rhythm guitar. Issued as an edited single in 1971, it became an underground hit at New York City block parties. The album version runs over eight minutes and includes a passage, left off the single, with some particularly powerful flourishes from Jones's Hammond B-3.

Rappers and techno DJs have sampled it often. Big Daddy Kane sampled it in Another Victory, on his album It's a Big Daddy Thing.
