Piece of Me

Bloodshy & Avant, with Klas Ahlund, wrote and produced it. It was the last song recorded for Blackout. When her A&R executive Teresa LaBarbera Whites persuaded the duo to write one more track after the album was considered finished, they wrote this song and sent it to Spears. Spears recorded it at Chalice Recording Studios in Los Angeles in about half an hour, having learned the lyrics by heart. Robyn sings backing vocals alongside Bloodshy & Avant. It was released on 27 November 2007 as the second single, peaked at number 18 on the Hot 100, and topped the Hot Dance Club Play chart.

Pitchfork's Meaghan Garvey called it the coolest song of her career and singled out the moment at 2:08 where the voice glitches and stutters. Rolling Stone ranked it number 15 on its list of the 100 best songs of 2007. Wayne Isham directed the video, which won three awards at the 2008 MTV Video Music Awards, including Video of the Year. The song gave its name to her Las Vegas residency Britney: Piece of Me, which ran from 2013 to 2017.
