Dreams-Come-True-Girl
The opening track and first single from Catacombs, released on May 25, 2009, with Karen Black on backing vocals.
Cass McCombs, from Catacombs (2009)
The song opens Catacombs and was its first single, out on May 25, 2009; McCombs composed the album, and no artist statement on the song's meaning was found. Karen Black sings backing vocals; Stereogum described her contribution as ghostly guest vocals, and CityBeat called it a starlit 1950s-pop number with her haunting vocals, from search snippets we could not open. Spin says she appears in the video, whose content is not described in any source we read. It runs 5:20 on the album and also appears on compilations including Snapshot: A Domino Compilation (2010) and Love Sounds (2013).
Live, a reviewer singled out its organ solo when it was the second song at the Echo in Los Angeles on November 30, 2011. Taped shows on the nyctaper archive include the Bowery Ballroom in New York on December 12, 2013, where it was track eight, and January 7, 2016, where it was the closing song, a fourteen-minute take with a dual drum solo. No chart history or covers were found, and we do not know whether our upload is the album version.
