Pompeii
Her sixth album, made in Cardiff in a house she had lived in years before.
Cate Le Bon, 2022
Her press statement said Pompeii was written and recorded in a quagmire of unease, solo, in a time warp, in a house I had a life in 15 years ago, and that the grief is in the saxophones. She told Rolling Stone UK that the title came from Pompeii, which she first heard of at a Church in Wales primary school, and that extreme hope sits alongside extreme despair. Clash's Matthew Neale called it an extraordinary balm, and NME's El Hunt wrote that despair drips through "Running Away" with sleazy squelches of synth. All songs are by Le Bon, and H. Hawkline co-produced and designed the sleeve.
