The Art of Noise is the third track on Cee-Lo Green... Is The Soul Machine, running 3:46. The Neptunes produced it, with Pharrell featured, and it replays elements of These Eyes, written by Burton Cummings and Randy Bachman. Pitchfork called it Green's mission statement, with Pharrell's background vocals and a piano part taken from Jay-Z's Allure, a minimalist exercise that burrows into the skull. The reviewer quoted its plea to have mercy if he seems heavy, and thought a song like this could make a dent in the singles chart. The Guardian called it just fantastic, powered by rolling keyboards and Green's distinctive whine.

It was not one of the album's two singles, which were I'll Be Around and The One.
