A traditional song, arranged by James Gordon, it opens The Trinity Session as an a cappella chant by Margo Timmins at 1:34. It is the one track not recorded on 27 November 1987. In the rush of the first session the band had no time for it, so Margo and Peter Moore went back to the church a few days later and recorded it during the Toronto Symphony Orchestra's lunch break.
In 1981 Jeff Bird co-founded the Guelph band Tamarack, whose second album, A Pleasant Gale (1983), included versions of Coast of Peru and Mining for Gold.
