Fifth Dimension

The Byrds' third album, which includes Eight Miles High.
David Crosby, 1966

Released
July 18, 1966
Label
Columbia

Most of the album was recorded after Gene Clark left in February 1966, and McGuinn and Crosby wrote more to make up for his absence. It peaked at number 24 on the Billboard Top LPs chart and number 27 on the UK Albums Chart. The singles Eight Miles High and 5D (Fifth Dimension) were included. The Byrds first recorded Eight Miles High at RCA Studios in Los Angeles in December 1965, but Columbia refused to release it because it was not made at a Columbia-owned studio, and the band re-recorded it at Columbia Studios in Hollywood.
