Bedtime for Democracy is the fourth and last studio album. Its songs deal with conformity, Reaganomics, the US military and the hardcore scene itself. The title refers to the 1951 film Bedtime for Bonzo, which starred Ronald Reagan, and also reflects the band's bitterness over the trial they were then undergoing about the art with their previous album.
It opens with David Allan Coe's Take This Job and Shove It. Other tracks include Chickenshit Conformist, Anarchy for Sale, D.M.S.O., A Commercial, Cesspools in Eden, Rambozo the Clown, Dear Abby, Where Do Ya Draw the Line?, Fleshdunce and One-Way Ticket to Pluto. The cover art, by Winston Smith, shows a defaced Statue of Liberty.
