Destiny's Child

The debut: a neo-soul record with sixteen producers and No, No, No Part 2, where the staccato delivery began.
Destiny's Child, 1998

Released
17 February 1998
Recorded
1996 to late 1997
Label
Columbia Records
Producer
D'wayne Wiggins, Wyclef Jean, Jermaine Dupri and others

The first album was recorded over two years, mainly with D'wayne Wiggins, and Wiggins and Mathew Knowles brought in 16 producers, among them Jermaine Dupri, Rob Fusari, Vincent Herbert and Wyclef Jean. It was recorded in part at Digital Services in Houston, and Wiggins's House of Music in Oakland, with sessions in New York and Atlanta as well. Wyclef Jean made No, No, No Part 2 by speeding up the original around a Barry White sample. When Beyoncé sang the lyrics jokingly fast, he encouraged her to keep the staccato delivery, which became a signature of the group. The final track, My Time Has Come, is dedicated to Andretta Tillman, who died in May 1997.

The album reached 67 on the Billboard 200 and was later certified platinum. No, No, No reached number three on the Hot 100, and the second single, With Me, did less well.
