Market Forces

The first single from Antarctica, released February 12, 2020: a corporate-life complaint over chugging bass and sharp riffs.
Flat Worms, from Antarctica (2020)

"Market Forces" is track three on Antarctica, 3:58, released as a single on February 12, 2020, the first preview of the album. Drag City gives no writing credits, and the personnel is presumably the trio with Steve Albini recording at Electrical Audio. Kevin Bronson at Buzzbands LA, writing on the day, called Ivy's riffs central and the vocals aggressive with an acidic edge. Loud and Quiet's Rankine called it the lead single, with chugging basslines and razor-sharp riffs that lacerate, and PopMatters wrote that its rhythm chases you both when it slows down and when it speeds up.

The subject, in the critics' reading and not the band's words, is corporate work: Paste hears a marvel at the proliferation of soul-sucking corporate jobs, and Still Listening the despair of corporate interests acting contrary to the public good. Setlist.fm lists it ten times in 59 shows, their sixth most played. No chart history, video, covers or samples were found, and nothing is known about our upload.
