Moving Waves
Their second album, also called Focus II: six pieces, opening with "Hocus Pocus" and closing with the 22-minute "Eruption".
Focus, 1971
Moving Waves was produced by Mike Vernon with Jerry Boys as engineer. Van Leer plays Hammond organ, Mellotron, harmonium, piano and flutes and sings, Akkerman plays acoustic and electric guitars and bass, Cyril Havermans plays bass and sings on "Eruption", and Pierre van der Linden plays drums and percussion. "Hocus Pocus" was added because the album lacked an outright rock track. Van Leer says he sang and played piano on the title track as a total contrast to "Hocus Pocus".
It reached number two in the UK, eight in the US, four in the Netherlands and six in Canada, was certified gold in the US in 1973, in the UK and in the Netherlands, and won an Edison and a Conamus Export Award. AllMusic gave it four stars.
