Supplique pour etre enterre a la plage de Sete
His 1966 album, issued untitled from a working tape made at home after a musicians' strike stopped the studio sessions.
Georges Brassens, 1966
The album was released in November 1966 as a Philips LP, untitled and known by its first track. It was recorded in July 1966 as a working tape at Brassens's house in Crespieres, though a Philips insert says Paris and a footnote on French Wikipedia corrects it. The final studio sessions planned for late October were prevented by a musicians' strike, so Philips pressed the working tape and called it a document. The engineer was Jean Bonzon, with Roland Guillotel assisting, on a three-track Ampex. Brassens plays voice and guitar and Pierre Nicolas the double bass, with no second guitar; Joel Favreau added one in October 2010 for a remastered version released in October 2011.
It reached number five in France in 1968 and went gold there in 1976. All words and music are Brassens's.
