Gil presented Domingo no Parque at the III Festival da Record in October 1967 and took second place, playing with Os Mutantes. It became the closing track of his 1968 album, running 3:40, on an album arranged by Rogério Duprat. In a January 1968 interview he stressed that another song on that record, Domingou, is about a Sunday in Rio and has nothing to do with it.
Gil also sang it on the live records Barra 69, made with Caetano Veloso, and Refestança, made with Rita Lee.
