Play on hypersongs

The second track on Dragging a Dead Deer Up a Hill is a short, swaying song of guitar and voice, its title joining the album's two obsessions, water and sleep. Stereogum's tenth-anniversary piece called it one of her very best and the song to play to someone who does not yet understand her music, noting that her voice on it is, by Grouper standards, almost loud. Trentemøller included it on a 2009 DJ mix, and the Philadelphia band Nothing recorded a cover that appeared on their 2019 rarities collection. She played it occasionally in 2008 and 2009, and brought it back for the 2026 tour.
