Who's Your Uncle?
The second track of The Best Kept Secret, with Bela Fleck on banjo and Sam Bush on mandolin, whose title nods to Uncle Josh Graves.
Jerry Douglas, from The Best Kept Secret (2005)
"Who's Your Uncle?" was written by Douglas and is track two of The Best Kept Secret, 3:28, with Fleck on banjo, Bush on mandolin, Derek Jones on bass and Shannon Forrest on drums. Country Standard Time calls it grassy-sounding with Bush and Fleck guesting, and a search summary of another review, not fetched, described an acoustic skirmish recalling the Strength in Numbers sessions. The title nods to Uncle Josh Graves, the Flatt and Scruggs Dobro player who introduced the Dobro to bluegrass and whose playing Douglas first heard as a child; at Hardly Strictly Bluegrass in San Francisco on October 7, 2006 Douglas dedicated it to Graves, who had died days earlier, according to an eTree listing relayed through search, so moderate confidence.
He played it on NPR's Mountain Stage in 2008, and eTree entries from October 3, 2016 list it. No setlist.fm count, covers, chart history or video were found, and it is not known which version our upload is.
