False Lankum

False Lankum was produced by John Murphy and the band at Hellfire in Dublin, with cover photography by Steve Gullick. Ten songs are traditional or covered, among them "Go Dig My Grave" from Jean Ritchie and "Clear Away in the Morning" from Gordon Bok, and two originals, "Netta Perseus" and "The Turn", are by Daragh Lynch. It reached number 2 in Ireland, number 1 on the UK folk chart, number 4 on the UK independent chart and number 47 on the UK albums chart.

Metacritic gives 89 out of 100 from eight critics. AllMusic's Timothy Monger gave it five stars and called it a nihilistic, almost comically bleak trek into the dark heart of folk music, the Guardian's Jude Rogers gave five stars, and the Irish Times 4.5, with Pitchfork's Ryan Leas giving 7.7 and calling it spellbinding.
