Hypnotized

Her biggest hit, released on Loma in 1967 and the title track of her debut LP.
Linda Jones, from Hypnotized (1967)

"Hypnotized" was written by Richard Poindexter and Gloria Spolan (spelled Spolin in another source), produced by George Kerr and arranged by Richard Tee, with "I Can't Stop Lovin' My Baby" on the B-side. It came out on Loma in 1967, one source says in March, reached number 4 on the R&B chart and number 21 on the Hot 100, and was Loma's biggest seller; in Canada it reached number 28 on the pop chart and number 7 on the R&B chart. It is the title track of her first LP.

A search summary says the Poindexter brothers auditioned songs for Kerr in late 1966 and sang backing vocals, and that Kerr first gave the song to another singer whose recording never came out, but we did not read the page behind it and the story is unverified. Popdose called it a short appreciation in its Soul Serenade column. We found no covers, samples or live history, and the YouTube page for our upload shows only the title, so the version is not known.
