Boyz was the first official single from Kala, released on 11 June 2007. It uses urumee drums, as does Bird Flu, and its lyrics deal with her time in Jamaica and refer to Jamaican dance moves. She recorded the beat in India and the vocals in Trinidad, then added more tracks back in India, and she shot the video in Jamaica.

Pitchfork called it the celebratory first single and a triumph of her rhythmic patter. Rolling Stone described it as "a delirious playground chant that morphs into an essay on gender and violence". A remix with Jay-Z appeared on the How Many Votes Fix Mix EP.
