Almaz is the 1973 Amha Records LP, catalogue AELP 80, released in Ethiopia and pressed in Greece. The Ibex Band arranged and accompanied him on all nine tracks. Buda Musique reissued it on CD in 1999 as Éthiopiques Volume 6.
Robert Christgau gave Éthiopiques 6 a B+ and called Ahmed the biggest singing star Ethiopia has produced, with a sound he found rougher but no less fevered and distinct.
