According to Light in the Attic's sleeve notes, as summarized in a search result, Chapman wanted to make the album quickly, Dudgeon booked the band into Trident Studios, and Chapman planned to replace the guide-track acoustic guitars, but Harvest's parent label judged it finished and pressed it. Derek's Music Blog says Chapman disowned it, saying unfinished demos were released while he toured. Jerry Gilbert wrote in Sounds on December 19, 1970 that it was less rhythmic and aggressive than its predecessors, largely because Mick Ronson was absent. It has since been reappraised. The original tracklist could not be verified in order and is omitted.
