Mark Arm plays organ on the album, and PopMatters described the opener as a demented, instrumental waltz that opens the record with enough pomp to maybe fill a thimble. The 2021 anniversary edition ends with a 24-track demo of the song, which PopMatters said has no organ and is a markedly more polished take than the one that starts the album. Pitchfork's Stuart Berman cited the album's Farfisas as part of its turn toward 1960s garage.
