Tezeta, or tizita, means memory and longing, and is both a song form and one of the Amhara pentatonic modes, often likened to the blues. Mulatu says tezeta pieces are full of nostalgia, maybe for a past love or for home, and are usually led by the masenqo fiddle; Strut calls his version a love letter to his country. His slow six-minute arrangement is on Ethiopian Modern Instrumentals Hits and Ethiopiques 4, and it plays over the closing credits of Nickel Boys (2024). He filmed it again at RAK Studios in London in 2024. Both uploads in the hypersongs web are the same 1972 Amha recording, one from the Ethiopiques CD, one from the label's reissue.
