The title comes from a traditional Ethiopian New Year blessing and means a man of experience and wisdom. The Harvard ethnomusicologist Kay Kaufman Shelemay notes that its melody quotes Horace Silver's Song for My Father, transformed in phrasing and rhythm over an expanded ostinato, with a Fender Rhodes solo and fuzz guitar. Mulatu calls it his gesture of respect for the people who created Ethiopia's traditional instruments.

It opens Ethiopiques 4 and plays in Broken Flowers. It is the song he has performed most since 2006, and he has re-recorded it several times, most recently at eight minutes on Mulatu Plays Mulatu (2025). The upload in the hypersongs web is the original Amha recording.
