Family Tree collects home recordings made with his father Rodney in Tanworth-in-Arden, demos from Aix-en-Provence, and 1968 demos recorded at Cambridge by Robert Kirby. His sister Gabrielle appears on All My Trials, and two songs, Poor Mum and Do You Ever Remember?, are by his mother Molly Drake, whose own album followed in 2011. He plays clarinet in a Mozart trio, and covers Bert Jansch, Bob Dylan and Jackson C. Frank. The album reached number 35 on Billboard's Top Independent Albums chart, his first chart album in America.
