The last of the four Postcard singles, issued in two parts in a die-cut Sound Of Young Scotland sleeve.
Orange Juice (1981)
- Written by
- Edwyn Collins
- Released
- March 1981
Poor Old Soul came out in March 1981 as Postcard 81-2, with Poor Old Soul Pt. 2 on the other side. Collins wrote it. It was issued in a die-cut Sound Of Young Scotland company sleeve with the Postcard catalogue.
Pitchfork noted that the second part alludes to the Subway Sect lyric about opposing all rock and roll. Tom Ewing of Pitchfork picked out the title phrase as one of Collins's odd little idioms of everyday speech. The band recorded it for their October 1980 Peel session, and Orange Juice are logged playing it 20 times.
