The title of the album and of its third track comes from Thomas's account of the first date of the Coed Jail tour in 1978, in Baltimore. The cross-streets there were lined with identical terrace houses, dub music was playing on the van stereo, and he pointed out the window and said, "Look, dub housing." The rows of identical houses were reminiscent of the echo and reverberation effects of dub music.
The song is credited to the whole band. It sits between On the Surface and Caligari's Mirror on an album the band made as one connected set.
