Revelator is the eighth studio album, released on 5 April 2024 as Phosphorescent's label debut on Verve and the first studio album in six years. Houck recorded it at his Nashville studio over six months. He considers it the best album he has written, exploring unspoken truths that come with navigating home, partnership and family.
Jack Lawrence of the Raconteurs and Jim White of Dirty Three play on it, and Jo Schornikow wrote The World Is Ending, the first Phosphorescent song not written by Houck. On 23 January 2024 Houck debuted several of the songs at The Bitter End in New York, and the next day he announced the album with the title single. He calls Revelator the best song he has written, and says it made him realize he was writing an entirely new album.
