The first track on Want One takes its title from the line the Wicked Witch of the West screams in The Wizard of Oz as she melts. Ravel's Boléro runs through the music. Pitchfork described the opening as a tuba's reluctant elephant steps and some acoustic plucks, a full concert's worth of accompaniment trickling in until strings take up the Boléro behind Wainwright's voice. The orchestral arrangements are credited to Wainwright, Marius de Vries, Chris Elliott and Maxim Moston. In 2005 Alexis Petridis summed it up in the Guardian as an orchestral meditation on straight men reading fashion magazines that erupts into Boléro.

A lyric quoted in the Guardian in 2003 has the singer musing that he is doing fine and that it would make a lovely headline: "Life is beautiful" in the New York Times. It became the second single from the album, released digitally in the UK on iTunes and 7digital on 8 November 2004, and a thirty-second TV advertisement used a sample of it before the album came out. Wainwright sang it on The Frank Skinner Show on 4 November 2004, and it is on the Live at the Fillmore DVD that came with Want Two.
