After a tour of Japan, Ousmane Ag Mossa went back to learn its traditional music, and said he composed some songs on one of the country's remote islands. Tabsit, which closes Tamotaït, is the one track on the album recorded there rather than in France, with Keiji Matsui engineering. Atsushi Sakata plays shamisen and OKI, a musician of Ainu descent, plays the five-string tonkori; PopMatters places both in the Oki Dub Ainu Band. The sleeve credits the song to Goumar Abdoul Jamil.

Songlines likened it to ambient Touareg prog-rock, with interlocking guitars and the two Japanese stringed instruments, and PopMatters heard the strings waft across the soundscape. The upload in the hypersongs web is the official label upload of the album track, posted on release day.
