It is the only Beta Band release to feature the founding members Gordon Anderson and Steve Duffield. The Guardian reported that it was made for 4,000 pounds and was playlisted on Radio 1 straight away.
Jonathan Levien, a Royal College of Art student who met Maclean in the Art Bar, played the trumpet parts on Dry the Rain. The EP was later included whole on The Three E.P.'s.
