No Good (Start the Dance)
A pitched-up pop vocal over hard breakbeats, and the band's biggest hit to that point.

Released by XL on 16 May 1994 as the second single from Music for the Jilted Generation, it was sold under the slogan hard dance with attitude. It is built around a repeated vocal from Kelly Charles's 1987 song You're No Good for Me, and Howlett at first doubted the sample because he thought it too pop for his taste. It also samples Funky Nassau by the Beginning of the End. Howlett told Dazed it was a response to the Eurodance of the time.
It reached number 4 in the UK and was the band's most successful single to that point. It topped the charts in Finland and Greece and reached number 2 in the Netherlands, and it went gold in the UK and Germany. Walter Stern directed the video, shot in a disused cellar beneath Spitalfields market. NME placed it 33rd among the 100 best songs of the 1990s in 2012, and Pitchfork's review of the singles collection called it jungle in slo-mo replay. Fedde Le Grand and Sultan & Ned Shepard released a remake in 2013.
