Released by XL in November 1992 as the fourth single from Experience, it was written and produced by Howlett. It samples Max Romeo's 1976 Chase the Devil and lines by Kool Keith from the Ultramagnetic MCs track Critical Beatdown, from 1988. It reached number 5 in the UK, and the BPI certified it platinum in June 2024. DJ Magazine put it in its Top 100 Club Tunes in 1998.
Russell Curtis directed the colour-negative video, in which the band rave in a rural setting, Flint in white overalls, a face mask and fluorescent gloves. Charles Aaron of Spin called it techno that bends your mind and tickles your belly. Alexis Petridis of the Guardian called it fantastic, futuristic pop music, and Pitchfork's review of the singles collection named it the best Prodigy track. The single edit runs 3:41. In 2005 an Audio Bullys remix was released with a remix of Voodoo People, and a recording of the band at the Pukkelpop festival that year appears on the expanded Experience.
